‘Velocity’ is a new-build HQ office development occupying 4.25 acres of land within the boundaries of the world famous Brooklands racetrack in Weybridge, Surrey.
The massing and general form of the building was informed by a previously consented planning application thus establishing a clear framework for any future development. However, as Velocity represented one of the very few new speculative offices then being constructed in the Thames Valley, our design had to successfully rework the original, ‘unlettable’, 130,000 sq.ft single-building proposal into two smaller more market-oriented buildings.
ESA and the team liaised with the local council, Mercedes Benz, the Environmental Agency and English Heritage to deliver a contemporary “best in class” building that is sensitive to its surroundings and historic context but embodies the bold and visionary spirit of Brooklands.
The two buildings were successfully let to LG Electronics and US multinational corporation Cargill as their UK headquarters in 2014.
