Pinehurst Office Development Highly Commended
’This year, it is great to see the rise of the creative building, incorporating stunning architecture, imaginative use of materials and inspirational design’’ Emma Crawford, Chair of the BCO Awards 2016
National Commendation Regional winner Commercial Workplace South West of England, Thames Valley & South Wales
‘This is a well-considered, attractive and flexible office development that stands out in its surroundings while being sympathetic to its unique position and nearby architecture. Particularly impressive is that this quality development has been delivered at great value, which was aided by an intelligent procurement process.
The twinned buildings sit in the centre of the 125-acre business park, somewhat of a TV star following its appearances on Top Gear, Antiques Roadshow and blockbuster movie X-Men, and they make the most of an already mature and attractive landscape.
They also complete the main square as outlined in the masterplan, where an aircraft hangar structure forms a ‘pergola’ over a popular and well used public space.
The project builds upon the architectural and landscape themes developed in earlier phases but takes and entirely fresh and playful manner. There is an awareness of materiality in the design, combining a variety of quality cladding materials which anchor the building. This is backed up by the intelligent textural context of the hard and soft landscaping.
Each building can be occupied as either a single entity or in a number of variations of sub-division. The offices surround generous circulation spaces fronted by small reception areas.
This project can be deemed a success by any standard, but when construction costs are taken into account this development warrants consideration at an altogether higher level.’
