ESA's modernist villa goes on the market for £1.25million
A piece of personal history -
Hailed as ‘unique and sensational’ when first designed and built in Yorkshire by the practice in the 1960s this luxury six-bedroom villa has recently gone on the market for over a million pounds.
Designed by ESA (previously known as Elsworth Sykes) in 1964, the design used what were considered to be revolutionary techniques and produced inspirational architecture that, according to recent local press, was ‘way ahead of its time with innovative features and materials, many of which are still in vogue today’.
The building represents an important stage in the practice’s long history and exhibits the modernist tendency that has always remained close to the creative ethos of the business.
The property, according to sales particulars, comes with a host of modern comforts including a swimming pool, interior ‘pond’ and even a wine cellar!
