Client:

Belfast City Hospital Trust

Completed - 2006

Status:

The new Belfast Cancer Centre serves Northern Ireland as a Regional Centre of Excellence. Situated at the main City Hospital site, the new building is linked via elevated bridges to existing surgical, pharmacy and outpatient facilities, providing fully integrated cancer diagnosis and treatment at one location. The site for the project required a solution arranged over five floors. To maximise natural daylight and ventilation, the accommodation is arranged around a central courtyard, which increases in size on the upper levels to provide sheltered outdoor access for patients on landscaped terraces.
