The project, which provides an office headquarters for some 6000 staff, was developed in close regular consultation with the Royal Fine Art Commission. The development consists of a relaxed campus style layout of four office neighbourhoods, each with an enclosed glazed street, offering catering and conference facilities to engender social and intellectual interaction.

A cable stay bridge leads to the main entrance building accommodating the central, shared facilities including; a lecture theatre, multi-purpose hall, conference suite and restaurant. A piazza is placed at the heart of the site and houses a technical library.

The narrow floor plates provide views of the surrounding landscape for all occupants. Opening windows and displacement ventilation, with the absolute minimum of air-conditioning, provides fresh air at uncommonly low energy levels.

A high priority was given to the conservation of nature and the scheme was enhanced by the mass planting of native trees to form a woodland setting, minimising the visual impact of the large car parking areas.
