ESA have gained planning consent for a new addition to the listed 1960's office building formerly the HQ for Birdseye. The original 17,000 sq m building, designed by Sir John Burnet Tait in 1960, is a classic example of modern post-war campus architecture and is clad in a modulated aluminium curtain wall that is to be replaced with an exact replica. The original building is to receive a new extension, again designed by ESA - the break between the buildings becoming the new natural entrance to the complex.
