The Davenant Centre has been operating out of the remains of old school buildings on the Whitechapel Road for several years, providing a much-needed service to the community. Its success has led to the need to upgrade the facilities enabling it to broaden its scope for the young in the borough. The key to unlocking the potential of the building was to rationalise the floor levels and the circulation throughout.
The buildng has now been gutted, retaining the historic façades and a new modern structure - including a lightweight glass stair/lift pod - has been inserted within the rear courtyard.
